McCain Chips ‘Farmer’

BEATTIE MCGUINNESS BUNGAY

A farmer magnificently conducts the elements of nature to form the perfect ingredients for McCain's chips.

Motion Theory Director Mathew Cullen partnered with 2008 Creative Agency of the Year Beattie McGuinness Bungay in order to create a symphony of nature for McCain, a leading brand of oven-style chips in the UK. The Motion Theory and Rokkit production teams employed a practical creative approach wherever possible, starting with a foundation of 50 tons of soil, and adding in bushels of potatoes and sunflowers to go along with the stage-and-location shoot. The magical symphony opens on a lush hilltop with our down-to-earth farmer, who calls the elements of nature into action. With bold, flowing gestures, he synchronizes rainfall and sunshine, producing the potatoes and sunflowers. The idyllic world of "Farmer,” brought to life with Motion Theory design and VFX teams headed by Senior Art Director Kaan Atilla and VFX Supervisor Bryan Godwin, sets the stage for a transformative journey through the sky, field, and even underground, with spuds sprouting and sunflowers bursting like fireworks. Inspired by The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the whimsical visuals are accompanied by a dramatic score, leading to the triumphant finale of the farmer smiling as he proudly holds up his gleaming masterpiece.
