Images reflecting the human experience combine into an ever-changing wall of light for Matisyahu’s “Jerusalem” video.

Historical events, personal memories, and aspirations of many people come together to form a tapestry of the human experience, reflecting the underlying theme in Matisyahu’s “Jerusalem.” The video, directed by Motion Theory’s Mathew Cullen, strives to reach beyond the religious and political connotations, and convey deeper values of connectedness. People from varied backgrounds and ethnicities step forward to contribute a memory, a wish, a memorial, or a thought – building an illuminated wall of imagery that provides a dramatic background to Matisyahu’s impassioned performance. Motion Theory art director Mark Kudsi, who also contributed as the 2nd Unit Director on the video, steered the design team’s efforts to create the sense that the photographs and moving images make up a living and growing history.
