Discovery ‘Dirty Jobs’
DISCOVERY CHANNEL
To launch the new season of Discovery's "Dirty Jobs," director Grady Hall creates a patriotic, Broadway-inspired homage, complete with dancing plumbers, giant flies, and roller-skating girls with chainsaws.
With a patriotic "Battle Hymn of the Republic" theme, the "Dirty Jobs" launch spot features host Mike Rowe proudly pledging to keep it dirty this season. The 60-second spot, directed by Motion Theory's Grady Hall and art-directed by Robin Resella, features blue-collar dancers and singers interacting with live-action and CG theatrical props, all intended to boisterously celebrate the people who do those dirty jobs that make life easier for the rest of us. The over-the-top production uses the well-known song as a starting point, recreating it with a symphony of banging pipes and other industrial sounds. Meanwhile, wrecking balls swing through frame, "maggots" drops down in bright lights, and giant vermin run amok as Mike Rowe holds forth about the depths of dirt he'll plumb in upcoming episodes.
