Syyn Labs was formed in 2008 by a group of artists, thinkers, technologists, engineers and scientists who build and twist together art and technology in original inventive ways. Its unique assembly builds creative contraptions and interactive installations that encourage audiences to play together by lowering social barriers. Syyn Labs is best known for its colossal-sized Rube Goldberg machine built for OK Go’s “This Too Shall Pass” music video, which it co-directed and won “Video of the Year” and “Best Rock Video” for at the 2010 UK Music Awards, and was included in the 2010 AICP Show. Since then, Syyn Labs has created similar set-ups for clients including Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” and Disney XD. The collective has also built immersive interactive experiences, such as its “Cloud Mirror” project, an augmented reality installation featured at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, which brought attendees’ badges to life.
