Growing Up
As a writer-director and creative director at Motion Theory, Grady Hall applies his innovative directorial vision to projects at every stage of production. His history at the studio spans award-winning commercials and international campaigns for companies such as AT&T, Sony, EA Sports, Gatorade, Budweiser, Nike, HP, Toyota, and Discovery Channel, as well as music videos for Beck, Modest Mouse, R.E.M., and others. Grady recently produced six episodes and directed one episode in launching the one-hour series SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND for Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert on Starz Network.
Grady began his career in development at Warner Bros. and Columbia Tri-Star, writing television movies, eventually creating a one-hour pilot titled “Escaping Eden” for Universal, and staff-writing on “The Outer Limits” for SyFy. He often speaks on industry panels, guest lecturing at the School of Theater, Film, and Television at UCLA, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies.
Grady has been named to industry magazines' “Directors To Watch” and Top 10 “Directors In Demand” lists as a commercial director and was included on Rolling Stone magazine’s “Hot List” for music video direction. Grady's work has been honored by the Clios and he's been featured in magazines like Ad Age, Entertainment Weekly, Shoot, American Cinematographer, and Creativity.
